Illustrated steps
Step 1
Take down your existing curtain and lay it out face down on a clean surface. Do not ungather it.
Next, tie the cords at both ends of the detachable lining’s heading tape so you don’t accidentally pull them through when gathering the pleat.
Pull on the two cords on one side so the fabric bunches up, then adjust the pleats until they are evenly spaced and the lining is the same width of the curtain you are attaching it to. Tie a slip knot at this end to hold it in place but still be easy to untie if needed in future.
Step 2
Lay your detachable lining on top of the curtain starting at the curtain hooks.
Step 3
Take each hook out from the existing curtain heading tape pocket and insert it upside down through the corresponding pocket on the detachable lining, then re-insert it back into the original pocket on the curtain (a & b). Do this with all hooks.
Generally, it’s best to hook into the bottom pocket when hanging on a track and the top pocket for a rod.
Step 4
Rehang the curtain onto the track or rod.
Tip: We recommend resting the curtain over your shoulder as you do this so it doesn’t pull heavily on the track before it is fully installed. You may need someone to help you.
